Kasumi Leonard, originally from Seattle, WA, holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the Eastman School of Music and was a member of The United States Army Field Band from 2009-2016.

As a member of The U.S. Army Field Band, Kasumi performed in 48 states on 18 nationwide tours. She was selected to be a featured soloist on 7 tours and also performed with the Field Band alongside the Boston Pops and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, Kasumi co-wrote and performed in the U.S. Army Field Band’s educational flute DVD, “Flute Fundamentals”, which has gained over one-million views on YouTube.

Kasumi is currently a substitute flutist with the New Mexico Philharmonic and has previously performed and recorded with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed with The New York String Orchestra and the National Orchestral Institute. In the Fall of 2019, Kasumi will be attending the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she will be studying with Timothy Day. Her previous teachers include Bonita Boyd, Damian Bursill-Hall, Anne Lindblom Harrow and Bonnie Blanchard.
