Kasumi Leonard, originally from Seattle, WA, is a former member of The United States Army Field Band and holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
As a member of The U.S. Army Field Band, Kasumi performed in 48 states on 18 nationwide tours, 7 of which she was a featured soloist. She has given solo performances at the National Flute Association convention in Las Vegas, NV, the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair in Washington, D.C., and was the featured soloist with The United States Army Field Band at the National Association for Music Educators convention in Nashville, TN.
Kasumi is currently a substitute flutist with the New Mexico Philharmonic and has previously performed and recorded with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed with The New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and The National Orchestral Institute at The University of Maryland. Kasumi has studied with Bonita Boyd, Damian Bursill-Hall, Anne Lindblom Harrow and Bonnie Blanchard.
Kasumi currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in her spare time, enjoys playing the guitar, filmmaking, and skiing.
